Year End Giving
The year end is fast approaching and many are looking forward to spending time with family and friends. As we reflect on the many challenges of this past year I am filled with gratitude for those who have given so generously of themselves through it all-as volunteers, as donors, as partners-to help children who have experienced abuse or neglect in our community. Together, we an create a community where every child experiencing abuse and neglect is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.
CASA Volunteers are individuals who are oftentimes the one constant person in the life of a child experiencing foster care. Every child should have a safe and loving place to call home. Our volunteers work diligently to support children, families, foster placements and Department of Family and Children’s Services to ensure the needs are met. As a volunteer, the needs of a child are most often recognized, addressed, and recommendations are made accordingly during court proceedings simply due to the CASA taking the time to review records and access needs extensively. CASA volunteers serve as extra eyes and ears that can often times result in aiding a more timely permanency. In addition to our advocates, we provide supervised visitation to support foster children in maintaining their relationships with parents and siblings. This program provides a home-like setting for families to spend quality time together as they navigate the foster care system and work towards reunification.
TLC CASA serves fifteen counties within the middle Georgia area. This area covers over 6,000 square miles which are primarily rural communities. Last year, 202 children and 109 families were supported by 44 volunteers who provided best interest advocacy, helping to meet the needs of children and ensuring they had the opportunity to reach their full potential with the support of permanent connections to family.
TLC Children’s Services has been providing volunteer advocates for the past 29 years. We are fortunate to have made an impact in the lives of many children and families with the help of our community partners. We are offering you this same opportunity. We would be grateful to partner with you towards our goal of recruiting 30 more volunteers. There is an incredible need right now-and the opportunity for you to help. When you give to CASA- it’s as if you’re there with us, helping us to connect more CASA volunteers with more children across our region. You really do make a difference in the lives of these children!
Please consider a year-end gift so you can give hope to more children in foster care. Your gift will provide more of Georgia’s children with individualized attention that comes from having a CASA volunteer.
